Anamorphic Animations

LionTree, a merchant bank at the center of the world's largest technology and entertainment transactions, brings industry leaders together each year at its annual retreat. For the 2022 event, the mandate was anamorphic animations for a large LED screen installed as the visual centerpiece of one of the key venues. The opening ceremony would be held right in front of it.

2022 marked humanity's emergence from the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic and the return to social gatherings. The opening art piece would celebrate exactly that — renewal and connection — and be grounded, literally, in sound taken from nature.

I directed the work — one of a series of bespoke productions we've created for LionTree since 2019 — blending innovation and artistry across the event.

The soundscape was crafted from electrical pulses measured from living forests, giving the piece an organic, ethereal atmosphere, and the visuals were directed against it to evoke renewal and connection. For an 80s-themed cocktail hour, we animated skiers in a retro aesthetic inspired by the era's iconic ski resort art. As a final touch, each guest was gifted a custom-designed NFT modeled after their likeness, minted on the blockchain and displayed prominently throughout the event.

The animations anchored both the venue and the opening ceremony, and the ski pieces gave the cocktail hour its own playful, nostalgic personality. The personalized NFTs sent every guest home with a piece of the event made specifically for them.
