AI Mosaic

In early 2023, generative AI was beginning to upend the technology and entertainment industries, but the mainstream, user-friendly tools we know today didn't exist yet. LionTree wanted its guests to feel the technology firsthand rather than hear another presentation about it.

Make generative AI a group activity. Every guest contributes one generated artwork, and the individual pieces accumulate into a single shared mosaic — individual creativity coming together in one collective expression.

I led the concept and production of AI Mosaic, with the specific goal of making generative AI accessible and engaging for a non-technical audience.

Guests worked through an intuitive interface: choose an art style, construct a descriptive prompt, and instantly generate a visual representation of the idea. Once a guest approved their prompt, the resulting artwork was added to a growing digital mosaic, blending with contributions from every other attendee. The interface did the heavy lifting so guests could focus on their ideas.

The final piece was a single collective artwork made by the whole room. For most guests it was their first hands-on encounter with generative AI, months before the tools went mainstream — which was exactly the point.
